Capalaba Park Shopping Centre has been honoured at this year’s Retail Property of the Year Awards, winning the Excellence in Marketing category for sub-regional shopping centres, one of Queensland retail sector’s most prestigious accolades, for their ‘Super Surprise’ Easter Egg Hunt.

The Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Retail Property of the Year Awards acknowledge the best in retail properties and precincts and celebrate the contribution of the industry to the broader community. The winners were announced at the annual Retail Awards Gala Dinner at Brisbane City Hall on Friday, 1 September.

The ‘Super Surprise Easter Egg Hunt’ brought a Pokemon Go style augmented reality to Capalaba Park, allowing members of their Park Points loyalty program to watch Easter come to life via their smart phones. Over 800 children participated in the Hunt during the campaign period.

The judging panel commented that the campaign was clearly defined, well researched and superbly executed.

“It’s innovative use of augmented reality throughout the Centre has produced a strong return on investment for Capalaba Park Shopping Centre. An outstanding entry and deserving winner”.

The Super Surprise Easter Egg Hunt has also been named as a finalist in the Digital Initiative category of the Australia-wide Shopping Centre Council of Australia Marketing Awards to be announced in Sydney on 25th October.
